Plants also requires frequent watering (every 2-3 days) during the warmer months.

Planting instructions for:

Abelia grandiflora white

Loosen soil in the planting area and amend with compost. Remove plant from container and gently tease out roots or slice the root ball in several places if pot bound. Dig a hole slightly deeper than the root ball and twice as wide. Place the plant in the hole so the top of the root ball is slightly above ground level. Fill in the hole, tamp down soil around the base and water well. Spacing depends on the variety.

Care instructions

Watering

Water deeply and regularly, especially during hot, dry weather. Make sure the soil is moist but not waterlogged, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot.

Soil

Prefers loamy, well-draining and fertile soil. (Soil pH - acidic, neutral) If the soil is too heavy, add some compost or sand to improve drainage.

Sunlight

Prefers full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate some shade but may not flower as well.

Prunning

Prune in early spring before new growth emerges. This will encourage a compact, bushy growth habit and promote more flowers.

Fertilser

Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Repeat the application in mid-summer if necessary.

Pests & Disease

Is relatively pest and disease-resistant. However, it can be susceptible to spider mites and scale insects. Check your plant regularly for signs of infestation and treat as needed with an insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
