Taking care of your

Annuals

An excellent method to add colour and interest to your landscape each year is using annual plants. You may construct a stunning and varied garden that will bring enjoyment throughout the growing season by choosing a variety of plants that are well-suited to your region's climate and soil conditions. To determine what works best for your garden, we advise trying with various plants and methods.

Here some general instructions on taking care of your Annuals:

  • Light:

Most annuals prefer full sun, which means at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Some annuals can also tolerate partial shade, which means 3-6 hours of direct sunlight per day

  • Soil:

Annuals prefer well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Work compost or other organic matter into the soil before planting to improve drainage and nutrient availability.

  • Watering:

Annuals generally require regular watering to keep the soil moist. Water deeply and thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.

  • Fertilizing:

Annuals benefit from regular fertilization to promote healthy growth and flower production. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season.

  • Deadheading:

Removing spent blooms (deadheading) can encourage more blooms to form and keep the plant looking neat and tidy.

  • Pruning:

Some annuals can benefit from pruning to encourage bushier growth and more flowers. Pinch back the tips of the stems when the plant is young to encourage branching

  • Pests and diseases:

Keep an eye out for common pests and diseases that can affect annuals, such as aphids, spider mites, and powdery mildew. Treat with insecticidal soap or other organic controls as needed.
