Care instructions

Watering

Is a drought-tolerant plant and should be watered sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between watering, and be careful not to water the leaves or stem directly, as this can lead to rot.

Soil

A well-draining soil mix is essential. Use a cactus or succulent soil mix, or amend regular potting soil with sand or perlite to improve drainage.

Sunlight

Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but too much can scorch the leaves. In areas with intense sunlight, it may benefit from some shade during the hottest parts of the day.

Prunning

Can be pruned to encourage bushier growth or to remove dead or damaged leaves. Use clean, sharp pruning shears to make cuts just above a leaf node.

Fertilser

Does not require frequent fertilization, but you can feed it once a month during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.

Pests & Disease

Common pests that can affect Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop' include mealybugs, spider mites, and scale insects, which can be treated with insecticidal soap or neem oil. To prevent fungal infections, avoid over watering and ensure good air circulation. Additionally, it's important to protect the plant from extreme temperatures and frost damage.
