Planting instructions for:

Aeonium sedifolium

Choose a location that receives bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade. Ensure the soil is well-draining to prevent waterlogged conditions. If planting in a container, use a cactus and succulent potting mix or create a well-draining soil mixture by combining regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball of the plant and place it in the hole, ensuring the base of the plant is level with or slightly above the soil surface. Backfill the hole with the soil mixture, gently firming it around the roots. Water thoroughly after planting, and then water when the top inch of soil becomes dry during the growing season. Protect the plant from intense sunlight, especially during the hottest part of the day, and monitor for pests and diseases, taking appropriate action if necessary.

Care instructions

Watering

Aeonium sedifolium requires regular watering during the growing season, but it is important to avoid overwatering.
Water the plant deeply, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Aim to keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy.

In hot or dry climates, you may need to water more frequently, while in cooler or humid conditions, watering less often may be necessary.

Soil

A well-draining soil mixture is essential for Aeonium sedifolium. Use a commercial cactus and succulent potting mix or create your own well-draining soil by combining regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand.
Ensure the container or planting site has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogged soil.

Sunlight

Aeonium sedifolium thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It prefers partial shade or filtered sunlight, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

In regions with intense sunlight or high temperatures, providing some shade during the peak hours can help prevent sunburn and heat stress.

Prunning

Pruning Aeonium sedifolium is generally not necessary for its natural rosette growth habit. However, you can remove any dead, damaged, or unsightly leaves or stems as needed.

If the plant becomes leggy or top-heavy, you can trim the stem and propagate the cuttings to rejuvenate the plant.

Fertilser

Aeonium sedifolium does not require frequent fertilization, but a light feeding during the growing season can help promote healthy growth.

Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength and apply it once every two to three months. Avoid over-fertilization, as it can lead to leggy growth or burnt leaves.

Pests & Disease

Aeonium sedifolium is generally resistant to pests and diseases, but occasional issues can occur. Watch out for common succulent pests such as mealybugs or aphids. If infestations occur, remove the pests by hand or use insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Proper air circulation, avoiding overwatering, and providing good light conditions can help prevent fungal diseases such as root rot or powdery mildew.
