Planting instructions for:

Aloidendron barberae 70lt

Choose a location that receives full sun and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole that is slightly larger than the root ball of the plant. Place the Tree Aloe in the hole, ensuring the base of the plant is level with or slightly above the soil surface. Back fill the hole with a mixture of well-draining soil and organic matter, gently firming the soil around the roots. Water the plant thoroughly after planting, allowing the soil to dry out between watering. Aloidendron barberae is drought-tolerant and prefers infrequent watering. Provide good airflow around the plant to prevent fungal diseases. With proper care, including occasional fertilization with a balanced succulent fertilizer and minimal pruning, Aloidendron barberae can grow into a stunning, tree-like succulent with its thick trunk and rosettes of green leaves.

Care instructions

Watering

Aloidendron barberae is a drought-tolerant succulent that prefers infrequent watering. Water the plant deeply but less frequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between watering. During the growing season (spring and summer), water sparingly, providing enough moisture to reach the roots but avoiding over watering. In winter, when the plant is dormant, reduce watering to prevent excessive moisture.

Soil

Aloidendron barberae thrives in well-draining soil. Use a mixture of sandy soil and organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot.

Sunlight

Aloidendron barberae thrives in full sun to partial shade.
Place the plant in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Adequate sunlight exposure is crucial for the plant's growth and overall health.

Prunning

Pruning requirements for Aloidendron barberae are minimal. Remove any dead or damaged leaves as needed.
If the lower leaves become dry and brown, you can trim them off to maintain a tidy appearance. Prune with caution, as the leaves have spines that can cause injuries. Wear protective gloves if necessary.

Fertilser

Aloidendron barberae is a low-maintenance plant and generally doesn't require frequent fertilization. Apply a balanced slow-release succulent or cactus fertilizer in spring or early summer, following the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive growth and weaken the plant.

Pests & Disease

Aloidendron barberae is generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, it can occasionally be affected by common succulent pests like mealybugs or scale insects.
Inspect the plant regularly for signs of infestation, such as small white cottony masses or sticky residue on the leaves.
Treat infestations with a gentle insecticidal soap or neem oil, following the product instructions. Provide good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal diseases, such as leaf spot or root rot.
