Planting instructions for:

Apricot - Royale 70 litre

To plant Apricot - Royale trees, select a sunny location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole that is wider and deeper than the tree's root ball. Loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole and remove any rocks or debris. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring that the bud union (the swollen area where the tree was grafted) sits slightly above the soil surface. Backfill the hole with a mixture of the excavated soil and organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure. Gently firm the soil around the roots to eliminate air pockets. Water the tree thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Provide regular watering, especially during dry spells, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Prune the tree in late winter or early spring to remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches, and to shape the tree. Apricot - Royale trees require full sun exposure for optimal growth and fruit production. Monitor the tree for common apricot pests and diseases, and take appropriate action if necessary, such as applying organic or chemical controls. With proper care, your Apricot - Royale tree will thrive and reward you with delicious apricots.

Care instructions

Watering

Provide regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Deeply water the tree, ensuring the water reaches the root zone. Avoid over watering, as it can lead to root rot and other issues.
Mulch around the base of the tree to help retain moisture and reduce weed competition.

Soil

Apricot - Royale trees prefer well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5. Amend heavy clay or sandy soils with organic matter, such as compost, to improve drainage and fertility. Conduct a soil test to determine any specific nutrient deficiencies and adjust accordingly.

Sunlight

Apricot - Royale trees require full sun exposure to thrive and produce abundant fruit. Choose a planting location that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Prunning

Prune the tree during the dormant season, preferably in late winter or early spring. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Thin out crowded areas to improve airflow and light penetration. Maintain an open center or modified central leader shape to encourage healthy growth and fruit production.

Fertilser

Apply a balanced fruit tree fertilizer in early spring before new growth begins. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates and timings. Consider using organic fertilizers or compost to provide slow-release nutrients over time.

Pests & Disease

Monitor the tree regularly for common apricot pests such as aphids, mites, and plum curculios. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) practices, including proper sanitation, cultural controls, and biological controls. Watch for signs of diseases such as brown rot, powdery mildew, or bacterial canker. Proper pruning, adequate airflow, and appropriate fungicide treatments when necessary can help prevent and manage diseases.
