Planting instructions for:

Arctotis - 6 pack

Choose a location that receives full sun and has well-drained soil. Prepare the soil by removing any weeds, rocks, or debris and loosening it with a garden fork or tiller. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball of the plant. Gently remove the plant from its container, being careful not to damage the roots. Place the plant in the hole, making sure it is level with the surrounding soil. Back fill the hole with soil, firming it gently around the roots to remove any air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Arctotis is drought-tolerant once established, so water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between watering. Prune the plant as needed to maintain its shape and remove any dead or damaged foliage. Arctotis prefers full sun exposure but can tolerate some light shade. Monitor the plant for common pests and diseases, and take appropriate action if necessary, using organic or chemical controls. With proper care, your Arctotis plant will reward you with beautiful and vibrant flowers throughout the growing season.

Care instructions

Watering

Arctotis plants prefer moderate watering. Water deeply and thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid over watering, as it can lead to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering. During hot and dry periods, you may need to increase the frequency of watering to keep the soil evenly moist.

Soil

Arctotis thrives in well-drained soil. Ensure the soil is loose, loamy, and rich in organic matter. Amend heavy clay soils with compost or organic matter to improve drainage. The ideal soil pH for Arctotis is slightly acidic to neutral, around 6.0 to 7.0.

Sunlight

Arctotis plants thrive in full sun to partial shade. Provide a location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth and flowering.

Prunning

Regular pruning helps maintain the shape and appearance of Arctotis plants. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming. Trim back leggy or overgrown branches to promote bushier growth. Prune in early spring to remove any frost-damaged or dead foliage.

Fertilser

Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer or a general-purpose fertilizer formulated for flowering plants. Follow the package instructions for application rates and timings.
Apply the fertilizer during the growing season, typically in spring and summer, to support healthy growth and abundant blooms.

Pests & Disease

Arctotis plants are generally resistant to pests and diseases. Monitor for common garden pests like aphids, mealybugs, or snails, and take appropriate measures to control them. Ensure good air circulation around the plants to prevent fungal diseases. If necessary, use organic or chemical controls recommended for the specific pests or diseases.
