A classic garden favourite, the 'Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow' is a prolific flowering shrub that's at home in both in the ground and as a pot specimen. The flowers start off as a deep purple, then fades to a light purple on the second day and finally as a pure white on the final day. The flowers are also produced in sucession so there's a constant flush of flowers in spring and early summer. Plant them in full sun or semi-shade in compost enriched soil and keep evenly moist during the dry summer months.

Planting instructions for:

Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' - 70 litre

To successfully plant Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda,' commonly known as Yesterday-Today-and-Tomorrow, follow these planting instructions. Choose a location that receives partial to full sun, as Brunfelsia pauciflora prefers bright but filtered sunlight. The soil should be well-drained and enriched with organic matter. Before planting, prepare the soil by loosening it and removing any weeds or debris. Dig a hole that is slightly larger than the root ball of the plant. Place the plant in the hole, making sure that the soil level of the plant matches the ground level. Backfill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the roots. Water the plant thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' is relatively low-maintenance and does not require frequent pruning. However, you can trim back any dead or damaged branches as needed. Monitor the plant for any signs of pests or diseases and take appropriate measures to control them if necessary. With proper care, your Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' will reward you with its beautiful blooms that change colour from purple to lavender to white, creating a stunning display in your garden.

Care instructions

Watering

Water the plant deeply and regularly, especially during the hot summer months. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly before watering again.

Soil

Plant Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A loamy soil with good moisture retention is ideal. Ensure that the soil pH is slightly acidic to neutral, around 6.0 to 7.0.

Sunlight

Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' thrives in full sun to partial shade. It prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight. Provide at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day for optimal growth and flowering.

Prunning

Prune Brunfelsia pauciflora 'Floribunda' lightly after the flowering period to maintain its shape and size. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Pruning can also help to promote bushier growth and encourage more blooms.

Fertilser

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer to promote healthy growth and abundant blooms. Use a fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs or a general-purpose fertilizer. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the appropriate application rate.
