Planting instructions for:

Coriander

To plant coriander, choose a sunny location with well-draining soil. Sow the seeds directly in the garden bed or containers, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep and spaced 6 to 8 inches apart. Keep the soil consistently moist until the seeds germinate, which usually takes 7 to 10 days. Once the plants reach a height of 2 to 3 inches, thin them to a spacing of 4 to 6 inches. Coriander grows well in cool temperatures, so provide some shade during hot summer months. Regularly harvest the leaves for culinary use and pinch off the flowers to prevent premature bolting. With proper watering, nutrient-rich soil, and regular pruning, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of fresh coriander leaves throughout the growing season.

Care instructions

Watering

Coriander plants prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, especially during dry spells. However, avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Soil

Plant coriander in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. The soil should be loamy and have good moisture retention. Ensure proper drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions.

Sunlight

Coriander thrives in partial shade to full sun. Provide the plants with at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight per day for optimal growth and flavour development.

Prunning

Harvest the leaves of coriander regularly to encourage bushier growth and prevent the plant from bolting (going to seed) prematurely. Pinch off the upper part of the stem to promote branching and keep the plant compact.

Fertilser

Fertilize coriander plants with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Choose a fertilizer with a higher nitrogen content to promote healthy foliage growth

Pests & Disease

Monitor your coriander plants for common pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Use organic insecticides or insecticidal soap if necessary. Be mindful of fungal diseases like powdery mildew; provide good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent them.
